October 2008 — "A group of friends meet every Wednesday after work for a beverage and either appetizer or meal. This week, we decided to try Brentwood Bay Lodge & Spa. I arrived first, so I picked a table in front of the floor to ceiling wood fireplace. It was a damp rainy day and the warmth and glow of the fire was a nice touch to take the chill off the Autumn day. We were on the pub side of the establishment. We ended up being a party of ten and they were quick to add a table or place setting to accommodate the group. Cutlery wrapped in black cloth napkins and candles were on all the tables giving it an elegant look with a nice glow as it was heading towards dusk. They also have fine dining area, a spa & hotel. It is a very upscale modern West Coast designed building with vaulted ceiling, a loft dining area, lots of wood beams, brushed chrome, special effect lighting and large wall art. The lodge is built into the hillside overlooking the ocean waters of Brentwood Bay right beside the Brentwood/Mill Bay ferry terminal. The regular menu which was surprisingly large, had appetizers, pub-fare, entrees, also had an extensive sushi section. In addition, they also had a special Fall Salmon Festival menu, ranging from items such as Salmon & chips, (1pc-$14 or 2 pc-$17), Salmon Penne with sundried tomato & goat cheese cream cheese sauce -$19, Salmon Burger $13, Salmon in phyllo with apples & gruyere $22. A tent card on the table displayed their daily drink and menu item specials. It was Wing Wednesday which happened to be 2 for 1. I ordered the pound of wings for $13. I took the 2nd order home. I choose the salt & pepper and the honey garlic. They were kind enough to split it up and serve it half & half in each of the order. Others at the table ordered the Calamari $13, BBQ wood oven pizza $14, Prawns $15, Fish & Chips, BBL burger. Everyone said they enjoyed their meal. They had a fairly broad wine & beer drink list. Local beer was priced at $4-sleeve, $5-pint, & $14.50-jug. The pale Ales, dark beers and other beers were $4.75-sleeve, $6-pint, & $17-jug. There was about 5 -7 other tables in the pub at the time, ranging from couples or the worker crowd just coming in for a drink at the bar. It was not terribly busy, but regardless we had plenty of servers taking good care of our drinks and meals. The servers were in all black and were very pleasant and attentive but not intrusive. The washrooms were on the same high end scale as the restaurant/pub and were immaculate. I found prices a little on the higher end but the service, presentation, view and atmosphere was worth it. It proved to suite the needs of any occasion whether formal or casual."
