March 2008 — "Bear Mountain, located in Langford, a district just north of Saanich, is a large new community. It is distinctly recognizable for the generic similarities in the architecture of every building. Whether a grocery store, gas station, or condo complex, all new developments have a grey stone, lodge-like mountain look. The large Westin resort is no exception. Though less than half an hour from downtown Victoria, visitors to this hotel will feel as though they have long escaped the bustle of the city. The serene woodland views, steaming hot pool and tavern-esque restaurant give the feel of relaxed tranquility throughout the hotel. Our room was a good size, with two plush queen beds, a large bathroom and deck with great panoramic views. We truly enjoyed our meal at Jack's Place, one of the resort's five dining locations. The discount coupons we received upon arrival made the meal quite inexpensive, yet the food was completely delicious. Afterward we retreated to a lounge where we enjoyed music from the grand piano and the fresh island night air. Three nights was not long enough, and we are excited for the next visit."
