June 2009 — "We came to Victoria to visit the Royal B.C. Museum to check out their special exhibit. We chose the Marriott Inner Harbour because it was about a block away from the museum, and we wouldn't need to move our car for our entire stay. We came with extended family, and the hotel was kind enough to place our rooms side by side. Check-in was a breeze and extremely friendly. She upgraded us to a room on a high floor with a balcony. We asked for dinner recommendations and the check-in lady gave us some nice family-friendly choices and mapped it out for us. Our room was not big with the two double beds, but the balcony made it feel bigger. It was a fabulous room, well maintained and very clean. The bathroom had marble counters, and the toiletries were Bath & Body Works. There were also two adult-sized robes in the closet. We slept very well in the room, as the beds and bedding were perfectly comfy, the curtains blocked out sunlight well, and we didn't hear any hallway noises or neighbours through thin walls during the night. My husband and brother-in-law tried to use the fitness room but it was very crowded that weekend morning, so they decided to go for a run instead. We took the kids to the swimming pool. It was a decent pool area though the place to sit was very limited. We enjoyed the hot tub immensely and liked that pool towels were available for use. We tried the hotel restaurant for breakfast, where the menu selections were quite good. There was a breakfast buffet, which offered made to order eggs, pancakes, waffles, sausages, bacon, eggs, pastries, fruit, and other items. The kids enjoyed ordering that and had a fun time picking out what they wanted. We adults ordered yogourt parfait, a healthy French toast (on some multi-grain bread), oatmeal, and egg white omelets - all of which were excellent. The price was very high for breakfast, but the quality of food overall was worth the price we paid. The only negative thing I can think of about our stay was the daily parking charge of $15. I guess that is inevitable since we were in downtown Victoria. Overall, we had a great stay and encountered only friendly staff. The location can't be beat, as you can walk anywhere in downtown Victoria from this hotel. We will definitely come back!"

February 2007 — "My husband and I just stayed this past weekend and the Marriot proved to be just as nice as when I stayed here a couple of years ago. We stayed in one of their standard rooms, which is really above standard. The bed and linens and pillows were comfortable and we slept so well because of it. The temperature control in the room worked well too--easy to adjust. This hotel isn't very old, so every is still very new, and they seem to be taking good care to keep it looking this way. The decor is traditional by simple. Our small room seemed very spacious. And everything was spotless, always. There is also in-room coffee as well as tazo teas (black and green). The location is perfect as well, only a five minute walk to the Empress (if that) and the museum, and two blocks from the harbour. I like the staff here too. Everyone seems genuinely friendly. There's no fakeness or pretentiousness here. We also used their fitness facilities, which was small, but there was plenty of elliptical machines and treadmills. The lounge is comfortable and you can buy starbucks coffee here. Their restaurant, Fire and Water, is supposedly renowned. We enjoyed our meal here, though my salmon seemed a little over-cooked. I'd stay here again and again--and recommend it to anyone!"
