"Winter Beauty"

February 2009 — "I guess this is the definition of a destination hotel. I came up here for Valentine's Day weekend, and while it was pricey, I really can't argue it wasn't worth it. From its maze like halls; which are begging to be discovered, to skating on its frozen lake surrounded by the mountains, this hotel is winter beauty personified. The concierge staff is more than accommodating, and quite honestly anytime I get a room upgrade without asking, I'm going to give service a rating of 10. The rooms themselves are not modern, but are nonetheless quite nice. We were lucky enough to have a room facing the lake and the mountains. It really was a site to behold, and why when given the choice between the Banff Springs or Lake Louise, I choose to stay here. If you do get the chance to stay here in the winter, make a point of hiking to the nearby frozen waterfall. You won't be disappointed."

"Christmas in Lake Louise"

Save Review

December 2008 — "I was one of those lucky people who celebrated a winter wonderland Christmas at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise this year. The hotel was of course, done up to the nines with Christmas decorations. This hotel is a great treat to stay at any time of the year but it is especially magical over the holidays. There was a massive Christmas tree in the lobby and a castle made of ice on the lake. It was beautifully decorated. The rooms are very luxurious with big duvets on the beds and nice spa like shampoos and conditioners in the bathrooms. Most of the rooms are quite small though with just enough room to walk around the bed. There are some rooms that are bigger with a separate bedroom and sitting room but you pay a whole lot more for these. If you can afford it, it is worth if for the extra space. If you are lucky enough to get a room with a lake view, you can gaze out at the glacier. There are restaurants, lounges and shops in the hotel to keep you busy as well as the famous Lake Louise ski hill is right there. I would recommend staying at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise any time of the year."

"Definitely nicer than the tent"

May 2008 — "All of the years I have lived in Calgary and visited Banff, I have never stepped through the doors of the the Fairmont Lake Louise; camping near the lake and hiking to the tea house was the closest I had come. A conference brought me to the famous hotel and I was curious to see if it lived up to my expectations. My room was lovely, filled with dark woods, a king-size bed, a fluffy duvet, soft pillows, a bathrobe, and a handsome cabinet hiding a huge TV. I appreciated the in-room safety deposit box and ironing board and kettle. The view, of course, was spectacular, and the art covering the walls in the hallways was colourful and often reflective of the nature outside. Even some of the chandeliers in the foyer were interesting, a collection of sculpted women who looked as though they belonged on the front of a boat. What a shame the bathroom was so disappointing. Although little touches gave the facade of a cozy, intimate and sophisticated air, the grout around the bathtub was cracked and dirty, and the ceiling was stained. The contrast between the bathroom and the room was striking and unfortunate. For the price they are charging, the bathroom should be as beautiful and clean as the rest of the room. To finish on a positive note, the staff made sure all of my needs were met quickly and promptly. I must say, staying at the hotel sure beat the tent!"
