August 2008 — "Don't plan to stay for just a night. They pick you up from Hartley Bay, and bring you into a world so far from the stresses of normal modern life. Cabins are rustic and very clean. Bedding is provided, but bring your own food, to cook on the propane stove inside or barbecue outside. A small store will bail you out if you forgot something. No TV, and the power turns off at 11 PM. Bring books to catchup on. Rent an optional fishing boat with new motor to explore the infinite maze of waterways in the neighborhood. Fishing? Supposed to be good, but I consider it an excuse to enjoy the majestic geography and rugged nature."

In operation since 1923, the French River Lodge has a long tradition in the resort fishing experience. Choose from rustic waterfront cottages made comfortable with washrooms, linens, fridge, stove, hot and cold water, and propane barbecues. The resort is situated on 16 acres of private land with waters ideal for fishing Walleye, Norther Pike, Muskie. Bass and panfish. The area is also great for canoeing.
