September 2009 — "A friend and I stayed at this hotel while on a business trip to Calgary. We decided to share a room and upgrade to a Junior Suite as we were able to get it for a very reasonable rate. The room was very spacious with two closets and a larger bathroom. It was very nice. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable and the service at the hotel was very good from the time we arrived to the time we left. The room was equipment with a coffee maker and fridge in addition to the TV. The concierge was very helpful in recommending restaurants and making reservations for us. The fitness facilities were also very good with a variety of equipment (we did not use the pool). We also sat in the lobby/lounge type area and had an evening drink and dessert. Again the service was very good even though the waiter was extremely busy. With our upgraded suite, we also were able to enjoy the breakfast room. The food there was very nice. Included was fresh fruit, yogurt, a variety of bread/pastry, cereal, juices, tea and coffee. All very fresh and gave us a nice light breakfast. I would stay at this hotel again. "

April 2007 — "We were given at night at the Palliser as a gift, and since we're young and used to budget travelling, it was quite a nice gift. Now, I've heard that the rooms at The Palliser are quite small, but we must've lucked out because ours was huge and even had a walk-in closet (not that we were staying long enough to unpack.) The king-sized bed was very comfortable and had a really nice duvet and linens. There was a little sitting area in our room and although there were a few wild weddings going on at the hotel, we didn't hear a thing from our room. The mini-bar was well-stocked but pretty expensive, as was the room service. We went for a dip in the pool, which was crowded and also FREEZING, but the hot tub did a good job of warming us up. All in all, we felt quite pampered.
There were some things about the Palliser that didn't impress us though. Firstly, they don't have parking -- there's a lot next door that is owned by some other company and they don't have a deal where you pay a certain amount (or, even better, nothing at all) if you're a guest of the hotel. Anyone who knows downtown parking prices knows that it's not cheap to park here -- thank goodness it was a weekend. Though parking still came out to $17 for one night. Also, they have a bottle of Evian water on the table, which you have to pay $5 for if you drink it. I mean, come on. You could walk a block to the Mac's and get the same bottle for $1.50. I live in Calgary so I know that the tap water is safe, but it just seems like a thinly-veiled attempt to make money of naive tourists. If you're paying so much to stay there, I think bottled water and parking should be reasonably-priced, if not free.
If you're staying at the Palliser, or even if you're not, take time to walk around the old building. It's really quite beautiful. Historic photos line the wall and the grand staircases and hallways are a sight within themselves. "

March 2007 — "I booked a nights stay on the Gold level at the Fairmont Palliser for the night of our wedding. When I arrived I was able to go directly up to the floor where they have their own checkin clerks to avoid the lines. After quickly checking in, the clerk gave me a tour of the floor, and our room. The Gold floor was full of amenities such as a private lounge.
After the checkin I headed out for the wedding. When my new wife and I returned early in the morning, the sitting area of our room contained a bottle of champain on ice!!! A very nice suprise!
In the morning we went swimming and enjoyed the rec room before grabbing a free breakfast in the private lounge.
