"Watchout Parking"

April 2007 — "When we arrived in the afternoon we stopped the car right outside the hotel to go in, book, and find out where to park our vehicle as the hotel does not have any parking facilities. After booking in my husband went to park our car at the multicar park across the street only to find someone writing him out a $50 parking ticket! So be warned find a parking place before checking in. Also the main restaurant was not available because of a private booking and the smaller restaurant had one staff person on, not impressed. Breakfast time was worse, again only one staff member, took almost half an hour before we got a menu, and I do mean, (a)(1) menu between 7 people. Had to write out our own order and serve our own coffee. My husband ended up pouring coffee for all the people in the restaurant. He should have been paid as an employee! We will not stay in this hotel again."

January 2007 — "For me, this hotel rates high for its value. Clean enough, centrally located and comfortable enough at a very reasonable rate. Another plus is the complimentary shuttle service from the airport (saves at least $20 in cab fare as I don't think there is public transit to the airport). The rooms are certainly not fancy or memorable--pretty stock in the hotel world. Avoid upgrading to a "City View" room. My city view was of the parking garage across the street. While the amenities, such as the lounge and dining rooms, looked amazing on the website, in real life they were not that appealing. Luckily there is a new Second Cup just around the corner."

"Beware:Not a safe place to stay."

October 2006 — "After my stay at the Ramada Marlborough in Winnipeg in October of 2006, I will never ever stay there again. My car was broken into and damaged so badly it was written off at the parking lot they told me to park my car in(50 feet from the hotel). As if that wasn't bad enough, then I was treated like garbage by the staff. First, they never informed me even though the security noticed it on his "regular 6 hour check". I was working at an event at the MTS Centre and was informed by a friend who was staying at the same hotel and noticed it when he left in the morning. Second, they made no attempt to help me in any way(find a car rental company, etc). Third, they offered me absolutely nothing in the way of compensation(even 5 bucks off my room would have been nice or maybe reimburse me for my parking???); and fourth & most insulting, when I asked if there was a safer place to park my rental car so it wouldn't be damaged either, I was told that nowhere was safe as it was a bad part of the city. I was forced to leave the hotel at 1am(after I was done working) and drive 2 hours home so I could feel safe. I've stayed at the Radisson across the street many times and even though it may be a bad part of Winnipeg, at least other hotels make the effort to keep their guests feeling as safe as you can these days. So, in conclusion, if you want a less-than-mediocre room in an "unsafe part of the city" where you are only valued because you paid in advance, then the Ramada Marlborough is the place for you. "
