July 2010 — "Our group of 4 (all 50s and 60s) had a wonderful stay at this quaint backcountry lodge. We were a little apprehensive about what the quality of the food and service would be after reading the 2006 review, but everything was much better than we could have hoped for. Our hostess Fran (who has been running the place single-handedly for decades) treated us like close family, except when we offered to help with anything she reminded us that we were the guests! The food was delicious and plentiful, and included a full lunch to eat in or take on the trail. We were also offered afternoon tea with fresh-baked goodies and a cheese & cracker appetizer tray to enjoy with our wine before dinner. The bedrooms were small but very comfortable and each bed includes a new down-filled sleeping bag/duvet, flat sheet, extra blanket and pillow with case. There's also an antique washstand and water pitcher that gets filled with hot water each morning. The restroom facility is adequate -- a large sturdy wooden outhouse that's kept very clean and has a picture window overlooking a spectacular mountain and glacier. An outdoor hot shower is available on request but we didn't use it.
Our stay was a totally unique experience that's hard to find anywhere nowadays, and it was worth every penny. Everything is done much the same as it was in the 1920's and you won't find any modern technology there. Even the table lamps burn oil. The view from the front porch and balcony is astonishing: a spectacular double waterfall hundreds of feet high, and massive old-growth fir trees all around. Numerous high waterfalls can be seen all along the 5-mile hike to the lodge and from the many side trails in the area.
On the drive home we all decided to return as soon as possible and we can't recommend this place highly enough as a total escape from a hectic world."

September 2009 — "We recently spent 3 nights at the Twin Falls Chalet, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Set in a beautiful location, with many day hikes in the area to glaciers, waterfalls, and valleys, I would go back in a heartbeat.
The chalet is rustic, with no running water or electricity, but that is why I go to the backcountry. The owner is an incredible hostess, and cooks hearty, tasty meals. The beds are very warm and comfortable, and I appreciated the wash basin in the room, and outdoor shower (with warm water!)
As everything is backpacked into the chalet on foot, I find the $250 per person per night charge to be reasonable, as it is a lot of work to keep the chalet up and running!
Communal meals around the table by the fire were lovely, as we met some interesting people up there. For anyone looking for a backcountry experience at a Canadian historic site- this is the place to go!"

August 2006 — "Loved the view, the rustic, historic lodge. Wonderful alpine hiking.
Unfortunately, the food and service were so poor that we left early, not even asking for breakfast the day of departure. On the day we wanted to do our long hike, exploring Yoho, breakfast was not served til after 11:00am, and we were the only paying guests. Bread in our lunch was cheap and stale and snack was oreo cookies. When we returned from a 20 km hike, and were very hungry, we were given some stale crackers and cheese. I asked for something more and was given 1 delicious homemade butter tart. My friend sitting beside me went to the kitchen to ask if she could have one also. Breakfast toast was burnt. Dinner not served til nearly 9:30pm, and it was a ham dinner but the quality of food was very poor (canned corn). Food seemed stale. We both had severe cramps and pains all night and left for the walk out at sunrise.Cost $200 night per person. Never again until new management."

This backcountry cabin gives visitors the true feel of the outdoors: no electricity and no running water. Plenty of good meals are served here though.
