July 2010 — "We stopped in early July on a Sunday evening with no reservations. Staff accommodating and unit was delightful. We were in the older side of the lodge and found it historic. We could imagine what it must have been like years ago, as a beachfront motel. Bathroom, kitchenette and beds were clean and comfortable. We paid under $100 and felt we got good value for the money. August 2009 — "Having relocated to england some years ago, i still had fond memories of coming to sylvan lake as a teenager and decided to come back with my wife. I found the warm and friendly service at raccoon its biggest asset along with the breathtaking views across the lake. The room we had was not exactly modern but had a very cosy feel to it and cleanliness was good.
We stayed in two hotels for a week each and although the rooms and costs were similer i would pick this one simply because the location is great and the staff are more approachable. It might be some time before i come back but if i do, its more than likely il stay here!"

March 2009 — "I had the chance to stay at the Raccoon Lodge Motel in two different rooms over the last couple of weeks while working on a crew in Sylvan Lake. Although the motel is a bit outdated, the rooms were clean and they met our expectations. For the first few days I stayed in a one-bedroom suite with a full kitchen. It was satisfactory and quite convenient to be able to make my own meals. This room had a bed in the living room and then a separate bedroom. The second room I had was just a standard guest room with two beds. It had a microwave and a refrigerator and that bed was also comfortable.
Since we were a crew of guys, we weren't expecting much and were completely satisfied with our rooms. It isn't anything fancy, but the location is ideal. It's right across the street from the lake!! The front desk staff was also very nice and the rooms were cleaned every day. During the summer the place must be hopping. There are also BBQs on every floor, which would be fun to use on a hot summer day."

August 2007 — "This was the comment made by the four-year-old granddaughter at the end of the first evening in our motel unit. To this little girl, staying in a motel just across the road from the beach, and about two blocks from a well-equipped playground, was about as close to heaven you could get!
We were quite surprised to be able to book a unit which had two bedrooms and a bath upstairs, and a living area with full kitchen, half-bath and hide-a-bed on the main floor. This was certainly enough space for the three generation party we were. With four adults and two pre-schoolers wanting to spend a few days together this was a welcome rarity.
Sometimes you have to take things just as they come- and not get in a knot over small details. It was obvious that the housekeeping crew did not have, or perhaps did not use, a supply check list. For example, why would you need/want seven dinner plates and only three coffee mugs? Why would there be about 20 powdered cream packets and no tea?
One major fault was in what was an ideal space, and an ideal location, was the lack of housekeeping. The bathroom areas were clean but sadly, the carpets and walls around the kitchen area had much to be desired. For families who are in the habit of removing outside shoes by the door, we broke our tradition. It was also not practical to allow our "little crawler-learning-to-walk" the opportunity to get down on the floor.
The weather was very cooperative, and so we did not spend huge amounts of time in the unit. Checking in was a pleasant experience, and all in all it was a good holiday. This unit was $150.00 plus tax for each night so we did feel it was a good rate. (Perhaps earlier in the season would have meant a cleaner room, but we weren't about to call in the carpet cleaners for our short stay)"
