July 2008 — "Asking me for the name on my reservation, the manager was in disbelief that I would drop in to his motel on the eve of the big race on just “a wing and a prayer.” I guess that I must have a strong wing. The manager went on to explain how his rate was likely half that of other accommodations in the area. I don’t doubt his theory. However, you get what you pay for: no tub, no thermostat and no ceiling lights. To turn the table lamps off and on, simply rotate the light bulb (the bulb was the most modern thing in the room). I’d love to see the youngest generation of travelers try to operate the dinosaur television. In the bathroom, each towel had its own unique shade of green. When using the toilet, take care not to bang your head on the sink. The silver lining: my room was less than ten minutes from the race venue!"
