July 2009 — "On our way through Safford, Arizona we decided to treat ourselves and stay in an old historic B&B right in the heart of old downtown. The house and small cottage (formally the summer kitchen) were built in the late 1800's, and the architecture is "Western Colonial Revival". Choices include a room in the house, or two cottages (small and large). We chose the small cottage for $80.00 US - it was the summer kitchen at some point, now converted into a cute little one room bedroom, kitchen and livingroom and a bathroom with shower. Unfortunately the air conditioner conked out and so we moved over to the large cottage, which would normally be $90.00 but the owner offered it for the same price as the small cottage. Significantly larger with its own bedroom, this cottage was actually built in the 1940's as a rental room. All amenities are included, including WiFi. The grounds were pleasant with several choices to plunk and have a beer - we chose the gazebo and then tried out the back porch. The house is located in a residential community but the way the grounds were laid out we felt we had sufficient privacy to relax and enjoy the shade. Unfortunately the air conditioner conked out in the middle of the night on the second cottage - our poor host was distraught as this apparently had never happened before (both at the same time!) and he did not charge us for our stay. Regardless of the unfortunate air conditioner situation, we would strongly recommend this B&B to anyone who is interested in staying in an historical accommodation that affords privacy, a great place to relax, a knowledgable (and very fair) host, and a full breakfast in the morning."
