December 2006 — "We stayed there over the Christmas holidays. When we checked in, the view of the lobby was foreboding. There was a large area of missing wallpaper with water damage. It turns out water damage was present in the room also, a long crack running across the ceiling, from wall to wall in the bathroom, with the bottom of the door into the bathroom warped and flaking from having been wet. There was dust on most surfaces, and when my husband checked the deadbolt lock into the other room, the whole thing fell off in his hand. The smoke alarm looked as if it was one of the original models, the plastic was so yellowed, and the cover didn't sit on straight. There was mildew in the grout in the shower/bathtub, no tissues, no liners in the trash cans, and best of all, the overwhelming stench of industrial strength deodorizer/disinfectant. I slept poorly and got up before dawn the next morning to sit in the open doorway of the room, trying to air out the smell. I suspect that it had been a smoking room, then was reserved to us as a non-smoking room. Never again."
