July 2010 — "My wife and I decided to take the kids to Waterton National Park. We have never been, and wanted to check out the area that we have heard so much about. This was actually a last minute decision to go there, only making our reservations the night before. The drive to Waterton from Calgary was beautiful once we got past Pincher Creek. When we arrived into the town site, we found the hotel quite easily. We were approx. 3 hours early for check in. The night before, I did put in a request to have an early check in. Although there were no guarantees, the front desk had no note of my request. Nonetheless, they did request for their room attendants to have it ready within the next couple of hours. When we finally got our room, we had 2 queen beds for 2 adults and 3 kids. The rooms were clean, and something you would typically find in a mid-grade hotel. The nightly rate was $185 which was somewhat expensive; but when compared against other hotels in the area, I think it was a decent price. The hotel was situated within walking distance to downtown and all areas that we wanted to see. It was easy for us to take a walk along the waterfront, then run back to the hotel to grab our jackets in the evening. It had a pool available, however, we did not have any opportunity to use it. In our room we also had a ceiling fan, however, when we turned it on it was obviously loose and looked like it was going to fall on us. Nonetheless, we did not use the fan at all. All in all, I would definitely stay at this hotel again given the cleanliness, and location to the town site. "

September 2007 — "All our rooms were on the same floor in the same part of the lodge. It was a very nice and clean room and the customer service that the staff gave was awesome. We would definately stay there again."

"Not a Great Experience"

July 2007 — "We decided to stay ot the Lodge for our Wedding in Waterton. Upon our intial visit in April, we were very excited about returning. The staff were very helpful and accomodating and we reserved everything with them with the assurance it would all be in order for our weddig in July. We called to check in about a month ahead of time to confirm the dinner details with the dining room, and good thing for us we did, because they were expecting us the next day (June 14th), which was a month early. So we got all of that sorted out and set up the menu and arrangements for the dining and set up in the dining room, no problem. We also figured we should probably then make sure our rooms were booked for the proper dates, as we had been to the hotel and chosen specific rooms for ourselves and our guests staying at the hotel. We then also confirmed two weeks ahead and were reassured by the front desk manager everything was in place and good to go. When we got to the hotel to check in on Wednesday, we had no reservations booked in their computer (even though we had confirmed 3 times by now). It took us 1/2 hr at the front desk to get everything straightened out and rebook all the rooms which should have been in place months prior. We then had to visit the front desk on Friday, as our photographer had called ahead to confirm his reservation (he was coming from Lethbridge that night) and was told there was no room for him. Turns out they had switched up the reservation with someone else, and booked a deluxe room, not a standard. No problem. We were assured we would only be charged the standard rate as the hotel made the mistake and would be happy to accept responsibility (according to the guy at the front desk). When he checked out on Sunday, he was charged full deluxe rate for both nights, not the reduced standard rate like they reassured us he would be. Yet another trip to the front desk for me to get this fixed. The hotel did do a fabulous job the day of the wedding in helping to have all the tables set up and decorated and dinner was excellent. Thank you chef James!!!! As agreed, the groom's father paid for the dinner and got everything cleared up with the dining room Saturday night. All was good....... we thought. When my new husband and I checked out, they had also charged the full meal amount for the wedding dinner to our room, and were requesting we pay the charges. This is still in the process of being resolved. Probably the most alarming result of our stay was our treatment by the hotel manager. At no time did he approach us to apologize for any inconvenience or offer any compensation for the undue stress and continued issues we had during our stay. In fact, when the maids left the room door open after cleaning our rooms and some items went missing, the manager was quite adamant they "don't leave doors open." It must have been us, and he had no way of knowing for sure. Except for the fact we were 15 kms away GETTING MARRIED. Not to mention the fact we had specifically requested the maids go in and clean our rooms after we left as we had been in the rooms all morning getting ready for the wedding. No apologies once again. Overall, the stay was ok, however I was completely blown away by the lack of professional management here and ability to stand behind their client services practices and make right their wrongs. "
