September 2010 — "I met a friend in Banff for the night and we decided to stay at Mount Royal Hotel as it is right on the main road in Banff and close to all the restaurants and pubs. The lobby is quite small but is nice enough. Our room was on the 2nd floor overlooking the street. I was a little disappointed there was no patio but rooms without patio's seem to be the norm in Banff. The room was quite big with high ceilings and a couple of really comfortable beds. There were some stains on the carpet and the bathroom, although big, was pretty dark. Other than that, the room was actually quite nice. We both got free parking behind the hotel which is always a bonus. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Although we didn't get to it, there is a lounge in the lobby which looked like a good place to have a night cap. The Mount Royal hotel is an average place to stay as it looks like it has had a lot of years of life already, but it's main selling feature is it's prime location!"

February 2005 — "The Mount Royal Hotel is located on what is probably considered the main intersection in Banff, so it's very a convenient place to stay - you can explore the restaurants and shops of Banff on foot. I always thought this hotel was a bit too pricey for me, but when I checked out their rates for an upcoming anniversary, I realized they offer fairly affordable accommodations. We stayed in a king room in the older section of the hotel. The room was a bit small but very nicely appointed and the bed was amazing. They have complimetary coffee in the rooms and the coffee was the best I think I've ever had. After a long day of exploring, I enjoyed soaking in the hot tub. I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would definetly go back. "
