February 2008 — "We had stayed at this hotel several years ago, and expected the same quality of accommodation. It is very conveniently located on Gateway Boulevard and so location is important. We entered the underground parking and found it to be very gritty. This is due of course to the winters we have, but it seemed to have more sandy deposits than what one would expect. Our check-in service was prompt and pleasant, but imagine our surprise when we entered our room to find two men, one half lying on the floor. I immediately excused myself because I thought we may have been given the wrong room. That was not the case. It appears that the previous persons had tried to destroy several parts of the room, including a bed frame, which was left in a rather stable, but slanting position. Everything was clean and we could see that recent upgrades had been made. However, alas, the upgrades did not reach the heating system. It was a rather cold night outside, and so the heating system ran quite often. The room would be quiet for a period of time, and then a loud blast would come from the heating system. This went on all night, which was not the reasonably good night's sleep one would expect in a hotel room. We discussed our concerns with the check-out person, who was pleasant but didn't offer any compensation. At the moderately high rate charged for less than a 24 hour stay, it seems that this was not a good choice on our part."
