September 2011 — "The Super 8 motel in Red Deer is decent, clean and inviting. The staff was friendly (everyone we met) despite the many signs describing "what not to do" (no yelling, throwing things in the hallway etc.). Apparently the motel is frequently used by teams and, in the past, there have been issues. However, this has apparently been resolved and not only are "non-team" customers on different floors, the rules are clear and strictly adhered to by the staff so that there is no disturbance to other guests. One gentleman who frequently uses the motel because of business said that he has never had a problem and always returns because of the "nice folks who run the place". Our room was nice and clean and the beds were decent and comfortable. The only complaint I consistently have of the Super 8's (and some of the other chain motels) is their tendency to use a ton of stryofoam and plastic for the free morning breakfasts - it's awful and almost embarrassing with our knowledge of the environment. Piles of garbage are stuffed into the bins in the cafe area without any place to recycle. Overall, I'd recommend this motel as a quiet place for the night - good location and nice people. "

September 2011 — "For about 90 bucks you can stay in a room with two queen beds. We actually paid about 70 including tax through an online booking site. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The linen was nothing fancy but good enough. Unfortunately for us, we accepted a room directly across from the elevators. As a result we were perodically awakened by people returning from their evening partying. I also found the air conditioner/heater difficult to deal with as it was continuously turning on and off and waking me during the night. I couldn't see a way to set it so that would not happen. The bathroom was clean and had a nice tub and shower. The light switches were on the outside wall though, and so if someone got up in the middle of the night and wanted some light, there would be a blast of light from the washroom before they were able to close the door. Not particularly good planning on the part of the hotel. I appreciated the free in room coffee and the GLASS drinking cups. "
