July 2008 — "We spent 3 nights in a two person cabin. It was very clean and cozy. The food was delicious and the staff were great. The canyon can get extremely busy when the groups of buses show up to do the hike but all in all, a terrific place. We would definately return! "

July 2008 — "This place was so relaxing. My son (11) loved to play tennis. He learnt to barbque. The staff were wonderful and very friendly. Dinner in on the patio was peaceful and food was tasty. I found the bed too soft, but sleep well. It is a great place to get away and into nature. The price was right for a single mom. The only concern I had was the door to the cabin did not lock from the outside."

August 2007 — "By taking the Bow Valley Parkway just west of Banff by about 10 km, you will experience a quiet, awesome drive that will take you to Johnston Canyon about 20 km beyond the Parkway turnoff. This site can also be reached from the Castle Mountain turnoff on the Parkway. Johnston Canyon has a history of making guests feel at home in the mountains. The cabins have rustic charm but are modernized for comfort and convenience. The cabin we occupied for 2 nights had a charming veranda well above the main area and overlooking trees, a walking path and the river. A chesterfield and two comfortable chairs faced the fireplace. Split dry wood was available in a woodbox attached to the house at no extra cost. A well supplied kitchen had all the utensils we needed to make full meals. As the spacious bathroom had a shining clean footed tub and a pedestal sink as well as a shower, we made sure we had time for a leisurely bathtime. Having the toilet facilities in another small room helped with a party of four. Away from the tourist traffic that does visit Johnston Canyon, there is a sense of peace here. A hike up the canyon can top the day for guests. Reserve ahead as this is a popular spot. Ask about the cost and also about the size of the cabin needed as there are several cabins. For extra services, the staff was accommodating. Note that this facility is not open all year. "

The resort is located at the entrance of a popular trail with scenery that epitomizes the beauty of the Rockies and leads to one of Banff's most famous waterfalls. Relaxed friendliness and honest values have been its signature for over 60 years each summer. All cabins are equipped with gas or wood-burning fireplaces and private baths, while some also have kitchenette facilities. The main lodge is home to a coffee shop, a licensed dining room, a gift shop and an outdoor patio. A barbecue area and tennis court are available. Pets are welcome for an additional charge.
