May 2011 — "We were out for a drive one day looking for places to camp this summer and were lucky enough to stumble onto this little gem. Elkton Valley Campground is nestled in the heart of the foothills situated on the Little Red Deer River. We were also lucky enough to get a seasonal camp site there for the year!
While rustic, it has a certain little charm about it that we love! The owners are really the kindest people we have meet always bending over backwards to help you out and always doing with a smile on their faces. Even after the past weekend when the campsite flooded out....they still had smiles on their faces. It feels like you are part of the family!
There are several seasonal spots (although I believe there is a waiting list) as well as weekend sites available. We love it because there are tons and tons of kids everywhere. Which is awesome as we have a 6 year old. There is fishing, tubing, parks, baseball diamonds - you name it! Our 6 years favorite thing is hands down 'Money Mountain' - it is a big pile of dirt/sand that they fill full of coins for the kids to dig out and then spend at the store on candy or ice cream.
If you are looking for a great place for the family this is the place to be!
We are so excited to spend the summer there! "
