May 2011 — "Sugar Lake Recreational Camping sites is an excellent place to camp right on Sugar Lake. You cannot make reservations so we took our chance and sent some friends up early on the day before May long weekend began. When they got there, all the sites were full. But the friendly and kind campground managers took pity on them and created an extra site in the overflow camping area. They even provided us with a couple of camping tables as the site had no picnic table. It was a pretty open site situated between the main campground road and the road behind the campground but it was somewhere we could camp. The site itself was fine (hey, we were happy we got a spot at all!) but we were right by the people who were there just to dirt bike for the weekend and the deafening noise of the bikes coming and going was not pleasant. I would recommend camping at Sugar Lake Recreational Site but not on a long weekend as it is just too busy. "

August 2010 — "We went to Sugar Lake on a sunny weekend in August. The campground was busy but we were able to find 2 sites beside each other that accommodated everyone. Sugar Lake doesn't take reservations which is perfect for spontaneous camping weekends. Almost everyone there had a dog camping with them. There is a roped off swimming area and we went for an early evening swim in the chilly but clear water. Sugar Lake is a good fishing lake and although I didn't partake, I did see a number of people come in from the lake with fish. The sites are quite open so you can see your neighbours but as it is a family oriented campground, it was nice and quiet at night. The camp hosts were friendly and ready with firewood if you needed it. I would highly recommend camping at Sugar Lake. It is out of the way, quiet, not too busy and feels like you are getting back to nature. "
